Meeting was called to order at 7:00PM, President Pat Moran presiding.

Pledge of Allegiance followed.

Minutes of the 4/05/10 meeting were approved.

Treasurer’s report by Bob Monaco – current balance is $4359.32 – accepted as presented.

President Pat Moran read a letter received from the “Ocean County Charter School” seeking Founding Trustee volunteers.

JCTA also received a letter in response to the Letter to the Editor from a gentleman who resides in Manahawkin requesting info on how to join the JCTA. Pat will contact him – perhaps to encourage him to start a Stafford Taxpayers’ Assoc.

Questions raised as to how the “last minute” press release (under Scott Zoladz’s name) annoncing bargaining regarding teacher givebacks was distributed to the electorate. If the Board distributed it via the students, it could be an electioneering violation.

General discussions regarding the two ads in the Sandpaper regarding the Southern Regional and LBI Consolidated budgets. Consensus was that both ads were effective, even though the Southern Regional budget passed; LBI Consolidated was defeated by about a 3 to 2 margin. Beach Havens budget passed handily, as per usual.

LBI Consolidated Board apparently “unconcerned” that their ad advertising a vacancy on the Board due to Don Meyers election to the SRHS Board had erroneous date for action. Reportedly, Supt. Bob Garguilo will be retiring this summer. This could impact the “Choice” program implementation negatively.

Four groups still owe dues – High Bar Harbor, Holgate, Surf City and North Beach.

A discussion followed as to a possible change in dealing with the Southern Regional Board; since their current strategy I s to basically ignore our requests for specific information either through the superintendent’s office or through the Board. Bob Irvine suggested an organized questioning of the Board at their meetings; making sure we press for complete answers at meetings subsequent to when the question is originally presented. It is hoped that an organized and continuing questioning may elicit some answers.

Next Meeting requires election of officers. President Pat Moran appointed a nominating committee.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:15 PM.

NEXT MEETING – JUNE 7th – 7 PM
