Update: Thursday, Nov 29, 2012

Good evening HCTA members,

Here is an update on the goings on -on LBI- as life adjusts to the new normal:

The Borough has extended the grace period for taxes due until Monday, Dec 10th.

FEMA has set up a Disaster Recovery Center at the Harvey Cedars Bible Conference at 12 Cedars Ave in HC. The Center is open from 9am to 7pm, 7 days a week until further notice.

The LBI branch (in Surf City) of the Ocean County Library has re-opened. Hours are 9am-9pm Monday thru Wednesday and 9am-5pm Thursday to Saturday.

NJNG crews have restored a substantial portion of the gas service back to the Island. Assessment will be ongoing with follow up to areas that had significant damage. Please, if you have yet to do so, return your signed gas approval tags to the Borough.

The LBI Joint Office of Emergency Management is asking for residents who have had their gas service restored to return the free electric space heaters they picked up so that they may be reused by those still without heat. The drop of location is the Long Beach Township Police Department, but if you cannot make that trip –PLEASE- drop them off at your local Police Department. There are many people in need-please keep these folks in mind and pass on the gift of heat.

Remember, all allowable storm debris needs to be placed at the curb no later that Dec 15th. For more exact details on items that will be picked up, please click on the link here: http://t.co/4LHNVLU9

If there is anything on your property that might qualify for our ‘Lost and Found’ page on the HCTA website (Harveycedarstax.org) don’t forget to list it. Additionally, if you have listed an item that has since be located, please let us know.

As of this time, we have not scheduled additional Community Cleanup days. If the need arises, we will let you know. Many thanks to those HC taxpayers who stepped up, volunteered their time and/or resources to help clean up HC.

Have a good evening.
