Beach Replenishment Update

Update- as of July 17, 2010 The Beach Replenishment project is now complete as far as the pumping of sand is concerned.

The additional work on the north end of town is completed with the addition of 300,000 more yards of sand. It is `feathered’ into LL, but not on LL property.

The Public Works Department went back and filled in sand on the South end of town by pushing sand that had migrated into North Beach back into HC. Also on south end, there is a good expanse of houses that have a flat area between their houses and the new dune.. The Boro plans on planting dune grass in these areas in the fall when temperatures cool.

The Boro is currently working on handicapped ramp at Mercer and are finishing the walkovers.

The piece of equipment to maintain the walkovers arrived this week. It can also do dune fencing and do ongoing maintainance on beaches. This should assist in the grooming of the beach access ways.

The beaches officially opened at the end of June and Life Guards are now fully on duty-as are the Badge Checkers. Please be polite and follow the rules that these young people are charged with enforcing.
