Keeping Harvey Cedars Taxpayers Informed!

HCTA Fall Newsletter 2013

Happy Fall to All,

With the recent anniversary of Sandy and seeing what is being called the strongest storm ever devastating the Philippines in the form of typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda I am reminded of how fortunate we were in Harvey Cedars to survive our own super storm with relatively minimal damage and no loss of life. The effects of Sandy’s destruction are still being dealt with by many people and the clean up costs and lost ratables across the County are affecting all of our taxes, but we are still here.

This time last year the HCTA was working with the Borough to get people back on the island and in their homes. We had great volunteer turn outs for our town wide cleanup days and I can not thank you enough for all of your help. It made a real difference. The HCTA is a group of volunteers that with your support has been able to make a positive difference in our community.

This past August we had another full house at our annual meeting where we had a chance to hear what was important to you for Harvey Cedars’ future. I want you to know that the HCTA Board continues to meet throughout the year working on your suggestions. Along with our continued pursuit for a safer Boulevard we are working on the inequities of our regional school taxes, participating in the JCT, representing the HCTA on Borough committees, and coordinating improvement efforts for the coming year. The minutes from Annual Meeting are posted on our website. Your involvement and support is important to our success. Our annual HCTA membership drive is underway. Please visit www.harveycedarstax.org to join. Membership is annual and is good through December. So please sign up now for 2014 if you have not done so.

Please be aware that Harvey Cedars Police Department offers a Winter House Check program. If you are away this is a great program where the police will check on your house and let you know if something is wrong. The program runs from October 15 through May 30. Your registration has to be updated each year.
Visit www.hcpolice.org to sign up for this free program.

I wish you all a peaceful and safe winter.

Warmest regards,

Phil Kunz, HCTA President
